92 pts. Deep ruby. Pure, reticent aromas of blackberry, crushed stone, bitter chocolate and violet. Suave on entry, then very ripe, concentrated and dense in the middle, showing an almost crystallized fruit quality to its juicy black fruit flavors. Wonderfully generous wine: this makes the basic 2008 malbec seem brooding and clenched by comparison. Finishes with sweet tannins and lovely aromatic persistence.
